About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fund Lead to drive the establishment and management of the Gender Justice Participatory Grantmaking Fund. As Fund Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the fund's structure, facilitating stakeholder engagements, and ensuring effective grant management and impact tracking. We are looking for a proactive individual with a passion for gender justice, strong project management skills, and the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder contexts. This role is ideal for a collaborative team player ready to lead with purpose and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and facilitate engagements with stakeholders to define the fund's focus, establish the participatory grantmaking (PGM) structure, and determine operational and selection processes.

  • Lead the development of the PGM structure, including drafting founding documentation, securing approvals from SJI and anchor funders, and appointing decision-making members.

  • Organize workshops and secure necessary approvals from stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with the resource mobilization team to secure seed funding and drive further fundraising efforts.

  • Manage donor relationships and engage with potential donors.

  • Ensure the PGM structure operates effectively within its mandate.

  • Oversee grant distribution and ensure grant reporting aligns with awards.

  • Measure the effectiveness of the PGM structure and grants in democratizing grantmaking and supporting smaller organizations.

  • Provide detailed reporting on the fund's activities and the impact of the PGM methodology.

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

  • Oversee and coordinate volunteers participating in the fund's decision-making structure.

  • Handle logistical requirements and coordination for diverse group engagements, including those with gender organizations and stakeholders from various geographies.

  • Conduct basic research and produce formal documents, reports, and updates related to the fund's activities and outcomes. 

Requirements

  • Degree in project management or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in leading multiple projects across various contexts.

  • Experience managing and being accountable for large budgets.

  • Exposure to managing research projects (preferred).

  • Familiarity with gender-based development programs (beneficial).

  • Proficiency in project management, relationship management, and logistics.

  • Strong writing skills for producing formal documents and updates.

  • Expertise in grant management.

  • Ability to coordinate groups from diverse backgrounds and geographies, including gender organizations.

  • Basic research skills.
