About the Job
The Fundraiser at CHOC’s Northern Region will secure funding from individuals, corporates, and SMMEs through research, proposal writing, and donor relationship management. The role includes budgeting, reporting, and maintaining records on Salesforce. Candidates need strong writing skills, at least three years’ experience in non-profit fundraising, and the ability to work independently in a target-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Research
Identify potential donors (corporates, SMMEs, individuals, community organisations, locally and internationally).
Engage potential donors and liaise with the Regional Manager.
Fundraising
Track income and expenditure, report monthly to Finance.
Submit monthly activity reports to the Regional Manager.
Assist with budget development and monitoring.
Ensure proposals align with CHOC’s programmes and donor interests.
Meet fundraising targets (monthly, quarterly, yearly).
Adhere to internal policies and procedures.
Proposal Development
Identify funding priorities with the Regional Manager.
Collect necessary information for proposals.
Write proposals, concepts, and applications with the BDU Manager.
Manage proposal timelines and deadlines.
Draft email appeals for tax-year giving and SMME support.
Relationship Building
Manage donor relationships after funding is approved.
Provide stakeholders with up-to-date, relevant information.
Foster long-term donor engagement and loyalty.
Maintain open communication and personalized donor care.
Donor Reporting
Track donor reporting requirements and deadlines.
Collaborate with Finance & Admin and Regional Manager to meet reporting obligations.
Submit narrative and financial reports aligned with agreements.
Administration and Reporting
Maintain donor pipeline and records on Salesforce.
Keep records of all proposals submitted.
Provide monthly pipeline reports to the Regional Manager.
Requirements
Experience & Knowledge:
Minimum 4 years of proven marketing experience.
At least 3 years of experience in proposal writing within a non-profit setting.
Experience writing fundraising proposals for corporates and SMMEs.
Ability to work with and consolidate organisational budgets into programme-specific funding proposals.
Experience drafting donor reports according to contractual obligations.
Familiarity with donor databases; experience with Salesforce is advantageous.
Strong written communication and persuasive proposal-writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Understanding of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
